SustainEd Farms welcomed Stella, to our team, in March. They will be establishing the new role of Operations Specialist, making sure that as we grow we are able to maintain quality systems that allow us to provide exciting and responsive garden programming to students across Denver Public Schools. Stella has joined our team and immediately hit the ground running bringing their problem solving and systems thinking skills to there team as well as their great sense of humor!

1. This will be your first season with SEF - what are you most looking forward to this growing season?
I am looking forward to getting my hands dirty again. It’s been a while since I’ve had a larger garden space that I can take care of and that's definitely exciting.
2. Who made you want to get into farming/gardening?
My mom, she has a really good green thumb. We always had plants all over the house growing up. Even when we hit hard times she still found a way to make a garden which was really cool. Also, Martha Stewart, but mostly my mom.
3. Is there a food or dish that makes you feel connected to your family/friends?
I, like most people, have gotten into making bread. This process has made me realize how ubiquitous bread is, every culture has their own recipe and take on it. A friend recently taught me how to make injera - I haven't been able to replicate it, on my own, but it was fun to learn.
4. What’s your favorite way to unwind after a long day?
I would say, crafting, hanging out with my cat, spending time with my beautiful sexy hot partner, and/or playing video games. I would love to say the gym but I’m not buff sooo...
5. If you could swap places with an inanimate object for a day what would it be? Why?
I found this question extremely difficult because I get bored easily so I wouldn't want to be just anything. But I came up with three.
A birdhouse so I could hang with the birds.
Do you have a favorite bird(s) you'd want visiting you?
Ooooooooh, robins or magpies
In a similar vein, I would also choose to be a rollercoaster so I could go on rides all day!
Finally, I would choose to be a wildlife trail cam. I would enjoy observing and hopefully I could be on a bear trail because I love bears. Especially black bears, they're just scared.
