Partnership Spotlight: City Floral

It is that time of year! In a few short days we will begin planting seedlings with students across Denver! City Floral is graciously providing the vast majority of our seedlings, garlic and onions to fill out our gardens this year. The remaining seedlings will be those grown by our students after their April garden programming. We understand that not all seeds germinate, or survive transplanting so we do not rely on those seedlings to fill out our gardens. We, and City Floral understand the impact of planting a seedling in the ground and being able to immediately water it. While planting seeds is essential to kick-starting our gardens, being able to participate and seeing the garden come to life in the span of one school day is the sort of instant gratification that gives us all a boost in dopamine which reinforces the positives of gardening on a neurological level.
Due to the sheer number of garden sites and students that we see, SustainEd Farms will be doing four separate seedling pick-ups this spring and early summer. The pictures above are a snapshot of round one! Not pictured are the garlic and onions that we received, and forgot to take pictures of, before we started planting them with students. We are grateful to City Floral for their generosity and commitment to supporting experiential garden learning and partnering with us to support the local food system.
