SustainEd Farms is a non-profit that addresses unequal access to sustainability curriculum and fresh food for students in the Greater Denver Area. We are seeking to expand our Board of Directors, a group of passionate individuals from a variety of fields from education and food systems to law and marketing. The Board's uniting force is their dedication to the SustainEd Farms' mission: Growing food. Growing knowledge. Growing justice.

Job Description:  

Serving on the SustainEd Farms Board of Directors is an extraordinary community service opportunity for an individual who is passionate about education, sustainability, food systems, and community. 

 

Board members are expected to read and understand financial statements and help the board fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities.

 

Board members are expected to attend a minimum of nine out of twelve board meetings per year. The Board will meet on the third Thursday of the month. Members are expected to read Board materials in advance of board meetings and to come prepared to ask questions and participate in discussions.

 

Board members are expected to serve on one or more committees of the Board and to actively participate in committee work. Current committees include the executive, finance, fundraising, grants, and strategic development committees. 

 

Board members are expected to play an active role in securing the financial resources necessary for SustainEd Farms to fulfill its mission. Board members are expected to leverage personal relationships and connections to help the development committee and staff identify and solicit funding from potential donors, as well as directly invest in SustainEd Farms’ work through an annual “Give or Get.” 

 

Board members are expected to responsibly represent SustainEd Farms to their respective communities and to advocate for SustainEd Farms’s mission, programs, and services as appropriate.

Board terms last for three years and board members can serve for up to two additional consecutive terms (for a potential total of nine years).

  • Finance

  • Fundraising

  • Event Planning
